Expansion…The face of expansion with Intention…What is this?

Wayne Dyer presents in his book on Intention…The seven faces of intention…one of which is the idea of Expansion…I have spent time drawing it, thinking about it…how do I feel it? This expansion? On the weekend I put myself out there…doing something that I feel is my personal truth…some-thing that when I do it with my body, feels amazing…as though there is no dissonance between what I feel is my reason for being here on this planet and what I am putting out there…in my thoughts, words and actions… The affect…I am knowing as the experience of expansion…For me it is a growth in consciousness…as though who I sense ‘I am’ now is somehow ‘bigger’ or ‘wider’ or ‘stronger’ than who I was in the time before I did these actions… I sense what it is to consider my be-ing as limit…less.  What does this mean for  humanity  ‘living in’ true purpose ?

Beliefs…give me a stand…AND seem to bind me tight? What else is there?

I have noticed recently that I hold a belief about something…for example that “I am right” about how that is. “I just know…I am right”. Holding on to this belief I have found gives me a sense of security. In other words because I believe it I am Ok, I exist, I am “right”; ( Funny, seems to be there are alot of us who are “right” all together!) In fact I have a collection of beliefs added to “I am right” such as “I have to fight” to get what I desire, “I have to struggle to survive”, “I have to work to be perfect”, “I have to control something or someone for me to be ok” Wow this is tiring!!! What if ?…I release the belief idea…of the mind…What if? I feel in my heart what feels good? What feels true for me? What would I think, say & do then

How do I go with the flow?…Is it a trust in the energy way of being?

The saying ‘go with the flow’ easy to say…for me a completely different experience I am finding in my own experience of life that when I consider aspects of my being in body, in mind and in energy or spirit (both separately and as one)  I am opened to a whole new way of be-ing in the world. In reflecting on ‘go with the flow’ in the context of energy I use here the metaphor of the river flow…the river flows with the direction of the landscape topography & geography, the current of the energy, through the places of least resistance.  I sense in my natural humanness; the innate intention of direction within the river…that part of the our selves that directs gently the shape and nature of the water and its relationship with the land upon which it travels…and yet I can-not control it. The river simply continues to flow…as

The Right Way to ‘do’ a yoga posture…

With so many teachers, techniques…so many ways to ‘do’ specific asana postures for so many good reasons weather they be philosophical, anatomical, physical, energetic or other reasons. What is the right way? One way is to look at the perspective of teaching based on the 2000 year old Yoga Sutras and the techniques as written by Patanjali. These are certainly tried and tested. As they were written down at the beginning; and represent the source of yoga… Yet the purpose of yoga is as a system is to guide us towards self understanding and a realisation of personal meaning. And in the doing the practices  ultimately results in the experience of Samadhi. The establishment of  a way of being …a realisation that there is no seperateness. So is there a right way? Maybe…what we attribute to the meaning of ‘right way’ is questioned.

Energy…A perspective from Rumi

“Knock and he’ll open the door, Vanish and he’ll make you shine lie the sun, Fall, and he’ll raise you to the heavens, Become nothing, and he’ll turn you into every thing.”       Sourced …From the Gratitude Diary by Melanie quoting Rumi   I see from this quote an opening my  mind and body towards considering the  energetic way of being of  existence… The energy in between the matter, the feelings of vibration, the permeation of light in the world. In consciously directing my mind to consider the energy of what I am observing I find my view translated into new thoughts, feelings, responses and ways of knowing beyond the intellect. I am moved to embrace a way of being mind, body & energy or spirit…

Doing the dishes to have a cup of tea or …doing the dishes to do the dishes?

In his book Thich Nhat Hanh…The Miracle of Mindfulness introduces this idea… I was pondering it this morning as I noticed the ‘fullness’ of my sink full of dirty dishes. I had crowded it out to get as much done as possible in the shortest amount of time. I had been feeling grossed out by the dirty dishes and needed to get them done! The thought occurred to me that I have this habit of filling up my own life the same way as my dish sink…FILL IT UP..MIX IT UP…GET AS MUCH DONE AS POSSIBLE! Considering this idea prompted me to stop doing the dishes and to leave the sink full of dirty water. I went outside. I moved into the garden and watered the lawn. Whilst I took these actions I noticed the beauty of the day, the rainbow through the water on to the grass. I took

Postures that I love and postures that I don’t…what is this about?

When I practice asana I notice the thoughts I have when I am thinking about doing a particular posture. I hear the thoughts of judgements about how it may be ‘technically’ assessed according to the information I have stored in my mind. I hear the comparison thoughts with those who have done the postures before me. I hear the resistance thoughts of my body, my mind; with what I wish to achieve in the posture to get it ‘done’ perfectly. And…I hear my thoughts of weather I actually want to do the posture… I have played with doing postures and practices that I don’t like. I have played with doing only those I do. I have come to understand that when I feel completely neutral about and in a posture, it simply is. Like life really?

Ground Hog Day…the repeat of daily life stories

Ever seen the movie Ground Hog Day? It is about a guy who constantly lives a day of his life over and over. The day doesn’t change until…he begins to change. What is he changing? He changes his actions…in the day. What causes him to change his actions? He changes the way he speaks with others. What causes this? He changes his thoughts in relationship with the day…Why? Because as he continually lives out the same day. My feeling about this is that as he becomes more aware of the ‘what is’ or the actuality of what is happening in the day, in each moment of the day… he becomes more aware  and mindful. I also notice…his feelings change. The film ends with the character having a new understanding of himself and appreciation for life. I am conscious for myself that each day…is a collection of moments…I am given the

A pen is not a pen unless we see it that way …to a cow it could be bamboo!

In the book How Yoga Works by Michael Roach& Christie McNally  there is a reference to how the mind makes up what it sees through the referencing of ‘seed thoughts’ that are stored within the mind both individually and collectively. These seeds are used by the mind to create the reality of what we see. So in illustration…a human may see a pen as a pen..however, the same pen may be seen by a cow as something good to eat. The question is what makes the pen a pen? Is it a pen in of by itself? In contemplation… the book puts forward that it is our minds that create the pen through the use of thought. This is how we in the human suit through the seeing created with our minds serve to create our reality. In exploring this idea further I find that the very basis of what I see
